Governor Cuomo issues a very bad line item veto! (MEDIA REPORTS INCORRECT, APPROPRIATION NOT VETOED)

CORRECTION!

The media got it wrong. I have just learned that it was a different onion approp that was vetoed. The $50K remains. My sincere & humble apologies to Governor Cuomo!

Original post follows:

One of the items that Governor Andrew Cuomo has vetoed was the $50,000 for onion research. Growers in the state are utterly saddened and dismayed by this. Attached is an old piece I wrote about this appropriation many years ago that explains the purpose of this investment and the value of it. The Governor’s veto has not only hurt farmers but also Cornell University researchers.

Sad, very sad to see. It appears that Governor Cuomo has limited concern for upstate residents of this state.
